London's museums and art galleries

| Museums and galleries
I’ll give you a list of free galleries and museums if you want, but I’m reluctant to choose a favourite – there are too many. If you insist, then the Museum of London would have to be high up there: I love the way it tells the story of the city, like a magical visual tour. Unfortunately, nearly half of it is being restored until next year, so that’s a bit of a bother, but can still pop in:

Science Museum – very popular interactive museum, great for adults and kids
Victoria and Albert Museum – art and design throughout the ages and world - free although some exhibitions and events have a separate charge. Whilst there, check out the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green, East London
| British Museum - have fond memories of this place from the time I used to study in the old British Library, which of course has undergone a modern revamp and is now housed at Kings Cross. It often hosts intriguing exhibitions and you can catch the new Eurostar terminal at St Pancras while there:

Tate Britain and Tate Modern art galleries – renowned art galleries

By the way, not exactly a museum piece, though that might depend on which way you look at it, the Houses of Parliament are open to visitors and details should be checked on the website
